May 2022 eFlash
Hello Fellow Learners –
The Canadian Learning Trust (the CLT) is a lifelong learning community that encourages all kinds of learning by all ages of learners. Our dream is of a prosperous Canada enriched with learning – a Learning Canada. This May 2022 eFlash recognizes and celebrates learning success.
Applause Please! for amazing Adult Learning. The Government of Alberta, through Advanced Education, provides funding to granting councils and agencies across Alberta to support the delivery of part-time, non-formal adult learning opportunities. Since the late 1970s, the Government of Alberta has supported community-based adult learning across the province. Through the Community Adult Learning Programs (CALPS), Advanced Education invests approximately $18 million each year to support the delivery of adult literacy and foundational learning, professional development for the staff and volunteers of grant recipients, and other initiatives that foster the advancement of community adult learning in Alberta. CALPs are grassroots community-based organizations funded by Alberta Advanced Education that provide, promote and increase access to foundational learning opportunities in areas such as:
Adult Literacy
Numeracy
English Language Learning
Basic Digital Skills
Foundational Life Skills Community Capacity Building.
The Community Learning Network (CLN) is a provincial non-profit association and registered Canadian charity with a mission, according to their website https://calp.ca/about-us.html “to support Community Adult Learning Programs (CALPs) through leadership, resources, training and connections.”
