Hello fellow Learners –
The Canadian Learning Trust (the CLT) is a lifelong learning community that encourages all kinds of learning by all ages of learners. Our dream is of a prosperous Canada enriched with learning – a Learning Canada. This eFlash recognizes learning wins.
Applause Please! Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU) is the first university in Atlantic Canada to launch a tuition waiver program specifically for former youth in care. The MSVU Post-Care Tuition Waiver Program will cover 100% of participating students’ tuition and compulsory fees. Full Program launch began in September 2021. An MSVU navigator will be available to participating students to ensure students are supported and connected with the resources they need. “Education holds the power to transform lives. Through this program, we will provide a tuition-free opportunity for immeasurable personal, scholarly, and professional growth for eligible students,” says former MSVU President and Vice-chancellor Dr. Mary Bluechardt.
A Shout Out, as well, to Ontario Western University and Nova Scotia Community College who are also joining the growing list of post-secondary institutions reducing barriers to education for learners who’ve spent time in foster care.
Thanks to Dr. Rosemarie Sampson for discovering this Learning Treasure! We appreciate your letting us know about this brilliant program in lifelong learning.
Have you heard of another institution or community that the Canadian Learning Trust can recognize for its learning success? If so, please end in their name.
Did You Know? There are lots of other learners who are challenged in accessing learning. When the constraints are financial, these learners are treated unfairly. The CLT has a program to meet these financial needs. Learners in need are matched with Learning Heroes who donate to their financial needs. If you are a learner, or know of such a learner, please check out the Gift of Learning (GOL) Program at http://canlearntrust.org If you would like to make a general donation to the GOL program, or to the CLT, we would be grateful. We are fund raising to make the website more accessible and secure for our Gifted Learners and Learning Heroes who donate. info@canlearntrust.org.
All donations over $25 receive a charitable receipt.
For Fun How many times were the words learn, learning or lifelong learning in this eFlash? The answer is in the next eFlash.
